We All Communicate! Don’t we?

I communicate; You communicate; We all communicate, all the time. What defines a really good communicator is their ability to listen. They listen more, understand the other person's model of the world and adapt their communication to fit that model.

For example, in your model of the world, ask yourself, what is a cup? In my model of the world my first instinctive answer is "A cup is smaller than a mug used to drink tea or coffee out of" What's yours? A small mug? Part of a bra? A piece of gentleman’s protective clothing? By understanding the other person's model you can communicate more effectively.

But how do you measure "good" or "bad" communication? Communication can only be judged on the response you get. If someone misunderstands your communication, whose fault is that? To you they misunderstood your communication. To them they understood exactly what they heard and mapped it to their own model, they carried out the instructions exactly, in their model of the world. So who did not communicate as effectively as they could have?

Communication is a given. Once two sentient beings are aware of the existence of each other in their own “space”, there is a flow of energy between them. They are communicating in some form. Whether that is walking away and ignoring, or displaying bright feathers or colours or talking. Whilst a being is in the “space” of another being, there is some form of communication between them. It is impossible for them to be "aware" of each other and not communicate. WHO are you communicating with right now? More importantly HOW are you communicating with them?
